The 2 Days Nyungwe National Park Safari offers an immersive experience in one of Africa’s oldest and most biologically rich rainforests. Located in southwestern Rwanda, Nyungwe Forest National Park is renowned for its exceptional primate population, diverse birdlife, scenic landscapes, and the famous canopy walkway suspended above the forest.

This short yet rewarding safari is ideal for nature lovers, primate enthusiasts, birdwatchers, and adventure seekers looking to explore Rwanda’s pristine rainforest ecosystem. The tour combines guided forest trekking, wildlife encounters, and the iconic canopy walk for a well-rounded and memorable experience.

Day 1: Arrival – Nyungwe Forest Exploration

Your safari begins with pick-up from your hotel in Kigali (or another agreed location) followed by a scenic drive to Nyungwe National Park. The journey offers spectacular views of Rwanda’s rolling hills, tea plantations, and rural landscapes.

Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch before heading into the forest for an afternoon guided nature walk or primate tracking experience (depending on permit availability).

Nyungwe is home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, L’Hoest’s monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and golden monkeys. As you trek through the dense rainforest, your professional guide will provide insight into the park’s rich biodiversity, medicinal plants, and unique ecosystem.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Canopy Walk and Waterfall Experience – Return

After an early breakfast, proceed to the Uwinka Visitor Center for one of Nyungwe’s most iconic activities — the Canopy Walkway.

Suspended approximately 50 meters above the forest floor, this thrilling walkway stretches across the treetops and offers breathtaking views of the rainforest canopy. From this elevated vantage point, you may spot monkeys, colorful birds, and panoramic forest scenery.

After the canopy experience, enjoy a guided waterfall trail hike. Nyungwe features several beautiful waterfalls hidden within the forest, providing a serene and picturesque setting perfect for photography and relaxation.

Following lunch, begin your return transfer to Kigali, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport, marking the end of your 2-day Nyungwe adventure.
