8 Days – Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing: Lemosho Route

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your guide for a comprehensive briefing, route overview, and final equipment inspection.

Overnight: Hotel in Moshi

Day 2: Lemosho Gate (2,100 m) – Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650 m)

After breakfast, drive to Lemosho Gate for registration. Begin trekking through unspoiled rainforest rich in birdlife and wildlife such as colobus monkeys.

Hiking time: 3–4 hours
Overnight: Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Camp (3,500 m)

The trail climbs steadily out of the forest and into the moorland zone, where sweeping views of the Shira Plateau and Mount Meru unfold.

Overnight: Shira 1 Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp (3,850 m)

A gentle trek across the Shira Plateau, allowing excellent acclimatization while enjoying expansive landscapes and clear views of Kilimanjaro’s glaciers.

Overnight: Shira 2 Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 5: Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower (4,630 m) – Barranco Camp (3,960 m)

A critical acclimatization day following the climb-high, sleep-low principle. Trek to Lava Tower before descending into the dramatic Barranco Valley.

Overnight: Barranco Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 6: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp (4,035 m)

Ascend the famous Barranco Wall, a thrilling but non-technical climb offering stunning panoramic views. Continue to Karanga Camp, where you rest and prepare for the summit.

Day 7: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp (4,673 m)

After breakfast, hike to Barafu Camp, the final staging point for the summit attempt. Arrive early for rest, hydration, and a detailed summit briefing.

Overnight: Barafu Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 8: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Mweka Camp

Begin the summit climb shortly after midnight. Reach Stella Point at sunrise and continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.

Celebrate your achievement before descending to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.

Day 9: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi

Descend through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi or onward to your next destination.
