3 Days Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale

Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Kibale National Park

Upon arrival in Uganda (Entebbe or via regional transfer), you will be warmly welcomed by our professional guide and transferred to Kibale National Park.

The scenic drive introduces you to:

• Rolling hills and crater lakes

• Tea plantations stretching across the countryside

• Traditional rural villages

Arrive at your lodge near the park, check in, and relax as you prepare for your primate adventure.

Dinner and overnight stay in Kibale region.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

Today is the highlight of your safari — Chimpanzee Trekking Day.

After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for:

• Registration and briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers

• Assignment to a chimpanzee tracking group

• Safety and trekking guidelines

Accompanied by experienced guides, venture into the dense tropical rainforest in search of habituated chimpanzee families.

Kibale National Park is home to:

• Over 1,500 chimpanzees

• 13 primate species including red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkeys

• More than 375 bird species

As you follow forest trails, listen for the distinctive pant-hoots and calls echoing through the canopy. Once located, you will spend one hour observing the chimpanzees as they:

• Swing effortlessly through the trees

• Groom and interact socially

• Forage and communicate

• Display fascinating intelligence and behavior

The experience is dynamic, energetic, and deeply captivating.

Return to your lodge in the afternoon for relaxation and reflection.

Day 3: Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary – Departure

After breakfast, visit the nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-managed conservation area rich in biodiversity.

Enjoy a guided nature walk where you may encounter:

• Rare bird species (including the Great Blue Turaco)

• Butterflies and wetland flora

• Various monkey species

• Local community insights and conservation efforts

This peaceful walk offers a deeper appreciation of Uganda’s ecological diversity and community-based tourism initiatives.

After the excursion, transfer back to Entebbe or proceed with your onward travel arrangements.
