The Marangu Route is the most popular and comfortable way to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak at 5,895 meters. Known as the “Coca-Cola Route”, it is the only route offering mountain huts instead of tents, making it ideal for climbers seeking basic comfort and protection from harsh weather.

This 5-day Mount Kilimanjaro climbing tour is suitable for physically fit trekkers with limited time who still want a rewarding summit experience. The route follows a gradual ascent through lush rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and finally to the snow-capped summit of Uhuru Peak.

Day 1: Moshi – Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut (2,720 m)

After breakfast, you will be transferred from Moshi or Arusha to Marangu Gate (1,870 m) for registration and briefing. Begin the trek through dense rainforest, where you may spot blue monkeys and colobus monkeys along the trail.

After 4–5 hours of hiking, arrive at Mandara Hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut (3,720 m)

After breakfast, continue trekking as the forest gradually gives way to heath and moorland vegetation. Enjoy spectacular views of Mawenzi Peak and, on clear days, Kibo Peak.

Arrive at Horombo Hut in the afternoon for rest, acclimatization, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut (4,700 m)

Today’s trek crosses the alpine desert zone, a dry and rugged landscape between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The air becomes thinner, and the pace slows as you approach higher altitude.

Arrive at Kibo Hut in the afternoon, rest, have an early dinner, and prepare for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 4: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Horombo Hut

Around midnight, begin the summit ascent to Gilman’s Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Witness a breathtaking sunrise over the glaciers and plains below.

After celebrating and taking photos, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue down to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Moshi

After breakfast, descend through the rainforest back to Marangu Gate. Upon arrival, receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi or Arusha, marking the end of your unforgettable Kilimanjaro adventure.
