A Majestic Journey: Conquering Mount Kilimanjaro on the Lemosho Route

Embark on an unforgettable adventure as you conquer the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro on the renowned Lemosho Route. This six-day expedition promises to unveil the thrills and challenges of trekking Africa’s highest peak, offering breathtaking views, diverse landscapes, and a true test of physical and mental endurance.

Day 1: Londorossi Gate (2,100m) to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,800m)

Your journey begins at the Londorossi Gate, where you will register and meet your experienced guides and porters. As you enter the lush rainforest, you’ll trek through a scenic path, surrounded by towering trees and the sounds of nature. After approximately three to four hours of hiking, you will reach your first campsite, Mti Mkubwa, situated at an elevation of 2,800 meters.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,800m) to Shira 1 Camp (3,500m)

Leaving the rainforest behind, you’ll continue your ascent through the moorland zone. The trail gradually becomes steeper, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. After approximately six to seven hours of trekking, you will reach Shira 1 Camp, located at an elevation of 3,500 meters, where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp (3,500m) to Shira 2 Camp (3,900m)

Today’s trek takes you through the alpine desert zone, characterized by vast expanses of rocky terrain. As you ascend further, the air becomes thinner, and the temperatures drop. After approximately four to five hours of hiking, you will arrive at Shira 2 Camp, situated at an elevation of 3,900 meters. Take in the awe-inspiring views of the surrounding peaks, including the magnificent Mount Meru.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp (3,900m) to Barranco Camp (3,950m)

The fourth day of your expedition presents one of the most challenging sections – the steep Barranco Wall. As you navigate this thrilling ascent, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the snow-capped Uhuru Peak. After conquering the Barranco Wall, you’ll descend into the Karanga Valley before reaching Barranco Camp at an elevation of 3,950 meters. Today’s trek lasts approximately six to seven hours.

Day 5: Barranco Camp (3,950m) to Barafu Camp (4,600m)

Prepare for the final push to the summit as you leave Barranco Camp and ascend towards Barafu Camp. The landscape transitions into an arctic desert, with sparse vegetation and rugged terrain. As you reach an altitude of 4,600 meters, you’ll need to conserve your energy for the challenging summit night ahead. After approximately seven to eight hours of trekking, you will arrive at Barafu Camp, your last stop before the summit.

Day 6: Barafu Camp (4,600m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and Mweka Camp (3,100m)

The most anticipated day has arrived – summit day. You’ll start your ascent in the early hours of the morning, navigating the steep slopes in darkness. As the sun rises, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking views and a sense of accomplishment. After approximately six to eight hours of strenuous hiking, you will reach the summit of Uhuru Peak, standing proudly at 5,895 meters, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement before descending to Mweka Camp, located at an elevation of 3,100 meters, where you will spend the night.

Day 7: Mweka Camp (3,100m) to Mweka Gate (1,650m)

The final day of your expedition takes you through the rainforest once again, as you descend towards Mweka Gate. This section of the trail offers a refreshing change, with lush greenery and a variety of flora and fauna.
