Day 1:
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a representative from Sunset Africa Safari will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. Take the opportunity to relax and acclimatize to the altitude. In the evening, you will have a briefing session with your experienced guide who will provide you with important information and answer any questions you may have about the upcoming climb. Overnight stay in Moshi.
Day 2:
After an early breakfast, you will be driven to the Londorossi Gate, where the adventure begins. The trek commences through a dense rainforest, gradually ascending to the Shira Plateau. As you hike, the vegetation transforms, offering glimpses of unique flora and fauna. Reach the Shira Camp at an elevation of 3,840 meters, covering a distance of approximately 8 kilometers in around 5-6 hours. Enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night under the starry African sky.
Day 3:
Today’s trek takes you from the Shira Camp to the Moir Hut, situated at an elevation of 4,200 meters. Traverse across the vast Shira Plateau, marveling at the panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The trek covers a distance of approximately 14 kilometers and takes around 6-7 hours. Upon reaching the Moir Hut, enjoy a warm meal and rest for the night, preparing for the challenges ahead.
Day 4:
Begin the day with a steady climb towards Lava Tower, a volcanic formation at an elevation of 4,600 meters. This acclimatization hike allows your body to adjust to higher altitudes before descending to Barranco Camp. The trek covers a distance of approximately 7 kilometers and takes around 4-5 hours. As you descend to Barranco Camp at 3,960 meters, be mesmerized by the breathtaking views of the Barranco Wall. Rest and overnight stay at Barranco Camp.
Day 5:
Today’s trek takes you through the famous Barranco Wall, a thrilling and challenging section of the climb. Ascend the wall with the assistance of your experienced guide, reaching an elevation of 4,200 meters. Continue the journey to Karanga Camp, covering a distance of approximately 5 kilometers in around 4-5 hours. Enjoy the spectacular scenery along the way and spend the night at Karanga Camp, preparing for the final push towards the summit.
Day 6:
The most anticipated day of the expedition has arrived. Start the trek towards Barafu Camp, situated at an elevation of 4,600 meters. The trail becomes steeper and more challenging as you approach the camp. Rest and prepare for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. Begin the climb in the early hours of the morning, hiking through the night to reach the summit at sunrise. Stand proudly on the Roof of Africa, at an elevation of 5,895 meters, and revel in the overwhelming sense of accomplishment. Descend to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest and overnight stay.
Day 7:
The final day of the expedition involves a descent from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate. Enjoy a leisurely trek through the lush rainforest, covering a distance of approximately 10 kilometers in around 3-4 hours. Upon reaching Mweka Gate, you will receive your well-earned certificate of accomplishment before being transferred back to your hotel in Moshi.
