Exploring the Majestic Beauty of Kilimanjaro: A Detailed Itinerary of the Northern Circuit Route Climb

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our team and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Take this opportunity to relax, acclimate to the altitude, and meet your fellow climbers. Our knowledgeable guide will provide a briefing on the upcoming adventure, ensuring you are well-prepared for the days ahead.

Day 2: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa
After breakfast, we embark on a scenic drive to the Londorossi Gate, where the trek begins. At an elevation of 2,100 meters, we enter the Kilimanjaro National Park and commence the hike through lush rainforest. The first day’s trek covers a distance of approximately 7 kilometers, taking around 3-4 hours. We set up camp at Mti Mkubwa, situated at an altitude of 2,820 meters.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa to Shira Camp 1
Leaving the rainforest behind, the trail leads us through the moorland zone, offering stunning views of the Shira Plateau. Today’s trek covers a distance of approximately 8 kilometers, taking around 5-6 hours. As we ascend to Shira Camp 1 at an elevation of 3,610 meters, the landscape transforms into a vast expanse of heather and volcanic rock formations.

Day 4: Shira Camp 1 to Moir Hut
Continuing our ascent, we traverse the Shira Plateau, an otherworldly terrain with panoramic vistas. Today’s trek covers a distance of approximately 14 kilometers, taking around 5-7 hours. We reach Moir Hut at an elevation of 4,200 meters, where we set up camp for the night.

Day 5: Moir Hut to Buffalo Camp
The trail takes us through alpine desert landscapes, offering an awe-inspiring view of the summit. Today’s trek covers a distance of approximately 12 kilometers, taking around 5-7 hours. We ascend to Buffalo Camp at an elevation of 4,020 meters, where we spend the night.

Day 6: Buffalo Camp to Third Cave
As we continue our climb, the scenery becomes even more dramatic, with the jagged peaks of Kilimanjaro dominating the horizon. Today’s trek covers a distance of approximately 8 kilometers, taking around 4-5 hours. We reach Third Cave at an elevation of 3,870 meters, where we set up camp for the night.

Day 7: Third Cave to School Hut
The trail becomes steeper as we approach the final stretch to the summit. Today’s trek covers a distance of approximately 11 kilometers, taking around 5-6 hours. We ascend to School Hut, located at an elevation of 4,715 meters. Here, we rest and prepare for the summit attempt, which begins in the early hours of the following day.

Day 8: School Hut to Uhuru Peak and descent to Millennium Camp
The most challenging and rewarding day of the expedition awaits as we make our way to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Starting in the early morning, we climb through the night, reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, at an elevation of 5,895 meters. After celebrating our achievement, we descend to Millennium Camp at 3,820 meters, where we spend the night.

Day 9: Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate
The final day of the trek takes us through lush rainforest, a stark contrast to the barren landscapes we traversed on our ascent. Today’s trek covers a distance of approximately 12 kilometers, taking around 4-6 hours. We descend to Mweka Gate at an elevation of 1,650 meters, where a certificate of accomplishment awaits us. From there, we transfer back to Moshi for a well-deserved celebration.

Day 10: Departure from Moshi
After a restful night in Moshi, it is time to bid farewell to this incredible adventure. Our team will assist with your departure, ensuring you have a smooth transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.
