Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Elevation: 1,640 meters (5,380 feet) to 2,835 meters (9,301 feet)
Distance: 11 kilometers (6.8 miles)
Trekking Time: 5-7 hours

Your adventure begins at the Machame Gate, where you will register and start your ascent. The trail meanders through lush rainforests, immersing you in the beauty of nature. Keep an eye out for unique flora and fauna along the way. After a challenging but rewarding hike, you will reach Machame Camp, where you will spend the night.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Elevation: 2,835 meters (9,301 feet) to 3,810 meters (12,500 feet)
Distance: 5 kilometers (3.1 miles)
Trekking Time: 4-6 hours

Leaving Machame Camp behind, the trail gradually gains altitude, offering glimpses of the surrounding landscapes. As you ascend, the vegetation transitions from rainforest to heath and moorland. Arriving at Shira Camp, marvel at the magnificent views of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau before settling in for the night.

Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
Elevation: 3,810 meters (12,500 feet) to 3,950 meters (12,959 feet)
Distance: 10 kilometers (6.2 miles)
Trekking Time: 6-8 hours

As you continue your journey, the terrain becomes more rugged and challenging. Traverse the rocky ridges of the Lava Tower, reaching a height of 4,630 meters (15,190 feet). Take in the panoramic vistas of the surrounding peaks before descending to Barranco Camp, nestled in a picturesque valley. This acclimatization day allows your body to adjust to the altitude, preparing you for the final ascent.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Distance: 5 kilometers (3.1 miles)
Trekking Time: 4-5 hours

Embark on a challenging yet rewarding climb up the Barranco Wall, a thrilling scramble that tests your agility and perseverance. Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Distance: 4 kilometers (2.5 miles)
Trekking Time: 4-5 hours

The path to Barafu Camp takes you through alpine desert landscapes, with sparse vegetation and vast open spaces. As you ascend, the air becomes thinner, and the temperature drops. Reach Barafu Camp, your final stopping point before the summit attempt. Rest, hydrate, and mentally prepare for the challenging night ahead.

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and descent to Mweka Camp
Elevation: 4,673 meters (15,331 feet) to 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) and descent to 3,110 meters (10,204 feet)
Distance: 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) ascent and 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) descent
Trekking Time: 6-8 hours ascent and 4-6 hours descent

In the early hours of the morning, embark on the final push to the summit, Uhuru Peak. Ascend through the darkness, guided by the light of your headlamp, as you make your way to Stella Point at 5,752 meters (18,871 feet). Witness the awe-inspiring sunrise over the African plains before continuing to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). After celebrating your achievement, begin the descent to Mweka Camp, where you will spend the night, surrounded by lush rainforests.
