Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative from Sunset Africa Safari. After a brief introduction, you will be transferred to your hotel in Moshi, where you can relax and prepare for the exciting journey ahead. The rest of the day is at your leisure, allowing you to acclimatize to the local surroundings.

Day 2: Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Camp (2,980m)
After breakfast, your adventure begins as you depart from your hotel and head towards the Umbwe Gate, situated at an elevation of 1,800 meters. The trek commences through dense rainforest, offering a picturesque backdrop filled with lush vegetation and unique wildlife. The first day’s hike covers a distance of approximately 11 kilometers, taking around 5-6 hours to reach Umbwe Camp, nestled at an elevation of 2,980 meters. Here, you will set up camp for the night and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

Day 3: Umbwe Camp to Barranco Camp (3,960m)
As the sun rises, you will continue your ascent towards Barranco Camp. The trail becomes steeper, and you will gradually leave the rainforest behind, entering into moorland characterized by heather and unique plant species. This day’s trek covers a distance of about 9 kilometers, taking approximately 4-5 hours. Arriving at Barranco Camp, located at an elevation of 3,960 meters, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and glaciers. After setting up camp, you can relax and savor the awe-inspiring beauty of the mountain.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (3,995m)
Today’s hike takes you through the famous Barranco Wall, a challenging yet exhilarating section of the climb. As you ascend the wall, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. The trail then continues through alpine desert, providing a unique and otherworldly atmosphere. Covering a distance of approximately 7 kilometers, this day’s trek takes around 4-5 hours. Karanga Camp, situated at an elevation of 3,995 meters, will be your resting place for the night, offering panoramic vistas of the mountain.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,673m)
Leaving Karanga Camp behind, you will embark on a relatively short but steep hike towards Barafu Camp. The terrain transitions into a rocky and barren landscape, with the summit of Kilimanjaro looming ever closer. This day’s trek covers a distance of about 6 kilometers, taking around 3-4 hours. Upon reaching Barafu Camp, situated at an elevation of 4,673 meters, you will have ample time to rest and prepare for the final push to the summit.

Day 6: Summit Day – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and Mweka Camp (3,100m)
The summit day begins in the early hours of the morning, as you embark on the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. The trek is challenging, both physically and mentally, but the rewards are immeasurable. As you reach the summit, standing at an impressive elevation of 5,895 meters, you will be greeted by a breathtaking sunrise and panoramic views of the African plains below. After celebrating your achievement, you will descend to Mweka Camp, located at an elevation of 3,100 meters, covering a distance of approximately 12 kilometers. Here, you will spend the night, reflecting on your remarkable journey.
